School House Electric & Supply Co.

I might be a little behind the times having discovered School House Electric & Supply Co. sometime in the last month.  Or, I might not be, and might instead be highlighting to you a fantastic, inexpensive, beautiful new source for lighting that you never knew about! Oh the possibilities.

Vist them here, but not until you've patiently read the rest of the post.

These are the things I like about School House Electric & Supply Co.

1) A clean, well designed online store with impressive use of typography.
2) Everything is about $100.
3) Everything is made for vintage, warehouse'y looking interiors (woo!).

And clearly, they're obsessed with Edison Bulbs.  I mean, who wouldn't be, Edison Bulbs are delicious, but for those of us who own fixtures with Edison bulbs (and we own four), I can tell you, they're like owning a vintage car -- expensive replacement parts and in need of constant maintenance.  I wouldn't recommend them for oft'used lights.  All of ours are in bathrooms, and they've all burned out a gazillion times.  We need dimmers.

Anytoots, back to School House.  Of all of their inventory, I was spoken to by these shiny things:

Lyon Surface Mount Light - $95, and comes in polished nickel, my favorite!
Emory Wall Sconce - $99, let me get my knife and fork and napkin, one moment.
Hendrix Surface Mount - $109, tt's like ice cream, but a light fixture.
And speaking of dimmers and light switches in general, I have found gold.  It has been SO difficult (and life is difficult) for me to find dimmers that feel vintage, instead of oober modern, which seems to be the direction the dimmer industry is headed.  I wish I could protest at a convention.

School House, way to go against the grain and win.

I give you, the vintage light switch and dimmer collection:

Three-way Dimmer Switch - $44
And it has amazing plates to go with it...I love the antique black!

Push Button One Gang Coverplate - $18, we need this in the hallway bathroom, also everywhere.

I'm just tickled, what a great find! What do you think of School House Electric? Old news to you or super fun and new and exciting?
