Let There Be Polished Nickel Light

Hi Loyalists, I'm back! I know it has been a dark time for you, with One Brooklyn Modern being off the grid, with so few explanations!

I suppose now would be a good time to confess all the reasons I stopped blogging for the last two months, but really, why not just get back to your regularly scheduled programming?

And with that, let there be polished nickel light :)

::sizzle::
Aren't they beautes? Ha, I can see Aaron cringing at my use of abreves, but whatever it is my blog!

I have no idea why we waited 1.5 years to get moving on fresh fixtures.  We used to have these little rental'esque disappointments:

It feels like we threw away the earrings that came with the apartment, and went shopping at Cartier instead.

We actually went shopping at Restoration Hardware, which is *almost* like Cartier, but for ceiling earrings.

Entering the ring, The Bensen Pendant, measuring in at 16" in diameter.

Funny Story Interlude: When Aaron and I first bought the apartment, my father bought us these lights.  1.5 years ago.  I paniked, not having made one decorating decision, and sent them back.  I then saw them hanging in the apartment of one of our stylish neighbors, and oh, I went and bought them again.  And they're perfect.  Go on Pops, gloat :)

And now for some more eye candy...

We used the height extension that comes with the pendants.  Perfect :)

Our view when we walk out of our room in the morning.

I could eat them.  And, elves installed them.  In the way that I contacted these people by email, they showed up, installed the lights (while I was at work), and left, and I sent them a check, and never saw or spoke to them.  I love the modern age.

Our elves came recommended by other stylish neighbors, so it wasn't all as blind as it sounded, at least my friends knew these people.  And by people, I actually mean a woman with an iPad and an electrical background.

Her name is Amy Santiago, and she runs Agressive Electric Maintenance Services LLC.  When she quoted me $250 for the installation, I didn't even get other quotes that sounded so fantastic, and hired her on the spot.  I'll say, she is one of the few electricians who is certified to work in our building, so that aided the quick decision.

Aaron, blissfully unaware that any of this was happening, was on a business trip while I was light shopping and elf-installing.  And he came home delighted with the upgrade! Excellent.

What do you think?
