At long last, the Home Tour!

*This post is also a permanent page!

We moved into One Brooklyn in late October of 2011, three months before we were married.  After exploring endless options in Manhattan and Brooklyn, we settled on the first apartment we had seen.  It was perfect, nestled in the midst of Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is being developed over the next several years.

Pier 6 is mostly finished, complete with a dog run and a one acre playground with a water lab. It also has three beach volleyball courts up and running, and several restaurants in the summer, including Bark, which has delicious hot dogs and beer.

Pier 5 is being developed this summer, and the first installation will be several soccer fields, followed by grills for public use.

Pier 1 is also complete, and Pier 2 and Pier 3 are getting their act together.

Ok, now that you've got your surroundings, lets check out the floor plan for our home.

Our previous apartment was a 500 sq. ft. studio, so this new floor plan was a wee bit mind blowing.  Ok, time to head inside!

::opens door: and, we're home.
When you walk in you're greeted with some of our most cherished art; a print I developed for Aaron in the photo class where we met, and a sketch of Amsterdam, made by a family friend and given to my parents as a wedding gift.

Front door is on the left, office door is on the right.
I had to include a picture of the inside of our front closet because it might just be my favorite room in the house.  It is the Ikea Stolmen system and it is lovely, mmm.  In this room, we painted the doors Benjamin Moore Anchor Gray, and the walls are Benjamin Moore Nimbus.  Our hallway mirror is from Ikea, and the cabinet is Room & Board.

And that's it for the hallway; now lets check out the second bedroom.

Our second bedroom has gone though an endless stream of names, including the man cave, the office, the den, and my personal pretentious favorite, the library.  Sadly, nothing stuck.  We spend a lot of time in this room; that giant sofa is a favorite blogging spot.  Almost all the furniture in this room was from our previous apartment, and was made by a family friend, Jeff Karges at Karges and Caron.

And now we'll saunter down the hallway, and make a right, and we'll be at the second bathroom.

I adore this room because we had it wallpapered.  We also painted the door in chalkboard paint, though I never got chalk.  We bought fabric for a full-length extra-long shower curtain, which will be made soon, so these pictures will be updated.  I haven't hung anything on the walls because I'm afraid of doing anything to destroy the wallpaper.

And now we're walking down the hallway again, and glancing left to check out some art and the dining room.

The Saarinen Table is a knock off which we got at InMod.com, and the chairs are from Room & Board.  I love the bowl on the table, which we got at Ikea.

And now for the living room...

We got the chaise lounge, the sofa, and the rug from Williams Sonoma Home.  The Barcelona Chairs are off the boat from China, more on that here.  One Kings Lane hooked us up with that stunning lamp, and Room & Board is responsible for the coffee table.

The fabric for the sheer was purchased at Clarence House (read more) and sewn by Sew and Sew by Mitchell.

Our stunning knock-off Franz Klien painting was actually done by my dad, more on that here.  We built the frame and silver-leafed it ourselves, a massive undertaking, more on that here.

And before we head out, check out a shot of the kitchen...

We haven't touched the kitchen's design, but we're planning on replacing those pendant lights soon with something more industrial.

Off to the master suite...

It's blue! But don't get too attached. After almost a year with the blues, we're thinking something lighter and neutral, more on the planned redesign here.

Our master bathroom is our zen-zone.  Candles, glass shower, tub, yes please.

And there you have it.  We're still very much in progress, but we've made major strides this year.  Thanks for checking out our home, and stay tuned for more progress in the upcoming months!
